Academy Facilitator Program
Overview
The Academy Facilitator Program will extend you as a leader of professional learning, equipping you with the knowledge and confidence to facilitate to a range of different adult audiences for different learning purposes.
You can complete this 2-day program as a stand-alone professional learning, or you can progress into one of the following content specialisations to facilitate for the Academy:
- Literacy Pedagogy and Practice: Facilitator Program
- Mathematics Pedagogy and Practice: Facilitator Program
- Inspire: Facilitator Program.
In the content specialisations, you will develop the knowledge and skills to support a system-wide approach to professional learning, build collective capability and advance teaching practice to improve student learning outcomes across Victoria.
You will gain recognition as an Academy Certified Facilitator following delivery of an Academy intake of one of the following programs:

Audience
Roles
Designed for school and system-based leaders who wish to develop their facilitation skills.
This includes:
- Principal class
- EILs, SEILs, regional based staff
- teacher leaders, learning specialists, leading teachers, experienced classroom teachers.
School sectors
This program is available to the following school sectors:
- Victorian government
- Catholic
- independent.
Some content may contain information aligned with Department of Education priorities or initiatives.
Facilitator
The program is facilitated by experienced Academy staff including Principals-in-Residence.
Structure of program
This program consists of:
- online self-paced pre-work (15 minutes)
- 2 face-to-face workshops (6 hours each)
- a peer assessment of your facilitation skills during Workshop 2.
Workshops
- Workshop 1: Setting an adult learning climate will look at creating a positive culture, effective adult learning, and facilitator presence.
- Workshop 2: Facilitating for impact will look at storytelling and productive dialogue, providing an opportunity to bring your learning together and put it into practice.
Peer-assessment presentation
During Workshop 2, participants will co-facilitate a 15-minute introduction to the Academy Leadership Excellence Framework and receive feedback from their peers. Participants will also listen to and provide feedback to others.
Participation in this assessment is a mandatory requirement for successful completion of the program.
Completion requirements
To successfully complete this program and receive a certificate of completion, you need to:
- attend and participate in all workshops
- complete all required pre- and post-workshop activities.

- inspire a positive and inclusive adult learning culture
- integrate facilitation protocols and tools into your practice
- apply adult learning principles and cognitive science principles
- mediate effective learning conversations for impact.

We significantly subsidise costs for all participants.
