About the role
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from outstanding educators to work as Expert Teachers in Residence with the Academy in 2027.
Expert Teachers in Residence have the capacity to deliver the following accountabilities at the highest level:
- Work in a variety of teams to co-design, facilitate, support and lead professional learning programs and resource creation across the Academy.
- Analyse data to monitor, evaluate and improve program design and personal efficacy.
- Use a project management approach to lead and support programs and projects.
- Possess and maintain expertise in evidence-informed pedagogical practices, and in one or more discipline areas.
- Build and foster mutually beneficial relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including Academy teams, subject matter experts, teachers, professional associations, suppliers and cross-sectoral partners.
These positions are open to educators working in the government, Catholic and independent sectors. Candidates must be VIT registered and substantively employed in a school.
The location of these positions will be Melbourne CBD and across the Academy’s regional centres. Regional and remote work (or similar) is an essential part of this role.
We are seeking Expert Teachers in Residence in 2027 with expertise in:
- Languages
- Science*
- Technologies*
*With experience in leading emerging approaches to using generative artificial intelligence in education, in line with Department of Education policy and the Australian Framework for Generative AI in Schools.
About the Academy and Teaching Excellence Division
The Academy is a statutory authority that provides professional learning for high-performing teachers and school leaders in government, Catholic and independent schools.
The Teaching and Leadership Excellence Division leads and delivers a comprehensive portfolio of evidence-informed, high-quality professional learning for teachers and school leaders. It enables excellence in teaching and leadership (including in literacy and mathematics), and student learning and wellbeing outcomes, and it builds leadership capability at all career stages, from emerging leaders to system leaders.
Alongside leading and supporting professional learning delivery, Expert Teachers in Residence contribute to the Academy’s objectives and provide thought leadership, insights, resources and guidance for teachers and schools.
Selection criteria
The selection criteria include:
- Demonstrated educational leadership,
- Demonstrated resource, managerial and administrative ability,
- Demonstrated experience in planning, policy and program development and review,
- Specialist expertise in program development,
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
