According to the OECD, the most successful school systems are those that combine excellence with equity. What do we need to know about equity in education? How do we identify and address inequity at a school and societal level to create good schools for all?

Equity in education, as defined by David Gonski’s Review panel, is to ‘ensure that differences in educational outcomes are not the result of differences in wealth, income, power or possessions’.

In this webinar, Finnish educator and scholar Pasi Sahlberg proposes that fixing inequity in Australia’s education system is a ‘mission possible’. He explores the current state, as well as systemic and in-school dynamics, to illustrate the complex nature of the mission while providing recommendations for reform.
