    Women Leading: Globally Engaged Schools builds on your participation in the Women Leading in Education program. Add a global lens to your leadership capabilities. Gain strategies to collaborate and lead a culturally inclusive school that understand and embrace diverse cultures, languages, beliefs and perspectives.

    The program equips you to use the Global Learning and Engagement framework to diagnose, reflect on, and evaluate your school community's approaches to global learning and engagement across 6 evidence-informed dimensions:

    • Vision, mission and school culture
    • Organising for global learning
    • Curriculum, instruction and assessment
    • Relationships and engagement
    • Teacher capacity
    • Measuring impact

    Through evidence and research, you’ll undertake a personalised Inquiry Focus aligned to the Global Learning and Engagement framework to embed intercultural capability and global citizenship in your school leadership.

    Roles

    This program is only open to female (principals and assistant principals) who have completed the Academy’s Women Leading in Education program (also formerly known as Women in Leadership program).

    School sectors

    This program is available to the following school sectors:

    • Victorian government
    • Catholic
    • Independent.

    Some content may contain information aligned with Department of Education priorities or initiatives.


    Facilitators

    Delivered in collaboration with the International Education and Partnerships Division (Department of Education), this program is co-facilitated by 2 people including:

    • a specialist in intercultural capability and global engagement
    • a Victorian principal with experience in leading globally engaged school communities.

    Structure of program

    Delivered within a school term, you are expected to complete:

    Interactive learning – 12 hours total

    • 1 x full-day onsite workshop
    • 2 x 3-hour online workshops (spaced approximately 2 weeks apart)
    • Collaborative, instructor-led discussions and activities
    • Real-time Q&A for direct support and insights

    Self-paced learning – 4 hours total

    • Up to 90 minutes of preparation before each session
    • Curated resources to deepen your understanding

    Peer learning group – self-directed

    • Opportunity to collaborate with peers to explore the Global Learning and Engagement Framework dimensions
    • Develop confidence to advocate for global and cultural education with confidence.

    Attendance requirements

    Participation in this program requires successful completion of the Women Leading: in Education program.

    To successfully complete the Women Leading: Globally Engaged Schools program you need to attend all workshop sessions.


    Learning outcomes

    Participants will learn to:

    • apply the Global Learning and Engagement Framework in your school context
    • lead through intercultural capability to strengthen inclusive school culture
    • design an Inquiry Focus aligned to school priorities
    • sharpen your leadership vision
    • share plan for an Impact Artefact
    • advocate for global and cultural education with confidence.

    Global pathway

    Women Leading with Global Vision: Women Leading in Education > Women Leading: Globally Engaged Schools > Women Leading: In-country Engagement

    Following the completion of: 

    You will have the opportunity to apply for a third part of this professional learning pathway:

    • Women Leading: In-country Engagement

    This optional in-country program will be undertaken:

    • in southern India (Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Kochi, Kerala)
    • 7 to 17 February 2026

    The immersion will offer meaningful insights to broaden your inquiry focus and develop your leadership practice through:

    • school visits
    • cultural activities
    • interactive workshops
    • professional learning with Indian education leaders.

    This experience provides a unique opportunity to grow as a globally informed system leader and enhance your abilities to lead in a global context.

    It also supports the implementation of Victoria’s India Strategy: Our Shared Future 2025-30.

    More information on the In-country Engagement and application process will be available in Term 3.

    • Department of Education fully subsidises Victorian government schools.
    • Please note that if you are accepted into the In-country Engagement opportunity to India, additional costs will apply.
