    The Teaching Impact Fellowship (TIF) offers graduates of the Teaching Excellence Program (TEP) a unique professional learning pathway to lead evidence-informed change in their school.

    As a teacher fellow you receive:

    • project funding to design and run an impact project responding to an identified challenge in your school context
    • ongoing professional learning through in-person and online sessions
    • connection with other highly skilled teachers to share expertise and learning
    • one-on-one support from a dedicated advisor.

    The TIF enables highly skilled teachers to enhance their pedagogical knowledge and skills and raises the quality and status of teaching in Victoria.

    Eligibility  

    To be eligible for a Teaching Impact Fellowship, you must have:

    • graduated or be on track to graduate from the Teaching Excellence Program or be a former Expert Teacher in Residence (previously known as Master Teacher)
    • principal endorsement and ongoing support
    • full teacher registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
    • a teaching role at the same Victorian school (full-time or part-time) at the time of the application and throughout the fellowship
    • not previously received an Academy fellowship.

    Structure of program

    Professional learning

    Three full-day onsite workshops designed to provide a strong foundation to pursue your impact project.

    These foundation days will take place in Term 1 and 2 in Melbourne.

    Teacher fellows are expected to attend all foundation days.

    Fellowship Learning Communities

    You will participate in three 3-hour online Fellowship Learning Communities (FLCs), building relationships with other fellows and:

    • share ideas
    • learn from each other
    • support each other’s professional growth.

    You will also have access to direct support and :

    • be guided and supported by a fellowship advisor with 4 online sessions
    • be assisted to engage in critical reflective practice and offered feedback to strengthen your project.

    Learning outcomes

    By undertaking the Teaching Impact Fellowship, you will:

    • define a vision of excellent teaching in the context of your classroom and school, informed by a critical examination of evidence-based teaching and learning principles
    • synthesise knowledge and evidence to design and implement an impact project that addresses an identified need or challenge within your school
    • identify and monitor indicators to demonstrate progress and impact, showcasing the outcomes of your project
    • enact and critically examine the values, principles and practices of leadership that enable meaningful improvement in teaching and learning
    • develop a plan to synthesise, communicate and share your learning within your school and with other Victorian educators.

    Fellowship completion requirements

    To successfully complete a Teaching Impact Fellowship, you must:

    • attend and actively contribute to the 3 foundation days
    • attend and actively contribute in the 3 online Fellowship Learning Communities
    • engage and collaborate with your fellowship advisor
    • lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of an impact project at your school
    • maintain a reflective practice journal that includes a series of tasks documenting your learning and professional growth
    • complete and submit 4 learning tasks in line with program requirements
    • present and share your impact project journey and outcomes
    • acquit fellowship funding using provided templates.

    Fees and financial support

    Your school will receive $5,000 to support the design and implementation of your impact project.

    Eligible schools may receive supplementary funding to support teacher release time, as well as travel and accommodation to fellowship activities.

    How to apply

    To complete a TIF application, applicants must:

    1. Click the apply button available on this page
    2. Start the process by providing personal details via the Academy’s website. Applicants will then receive a confirmation email with a link to the Academy’s online application platform
    3. Complete the online application.

    After teachers have submitted their application, their principal will receive an email asking them to endorse their application. Applicants must factor in the time it will take their principal to endorse their application. It is recommended that applicants submit their applications at least a few days before applications close.

    Applications close on Monday 13 October 2025.

    About the Teaching Impact Fellowship 

    The Teaching Impact Fellowship program has been enabling Victorian teachers to enhance their pedagogical knowledge and skills since 2023. 

    The depth of representation is rich with teachers participating from metro, regional and rural schools across Government, Catholic and Independent sectors. 

    Underpinned by The Academy Fellowships Model, the program represents a transformative approach to teacher professional learning, focusing on empowering teachers as agents of change by:

    1. deepening a teacher's professional expertise, and
    2. nurturing a teacher's capability to drive evidence-informed school improvement.
