    Learn about the Victorian Aspiring Principal Assessment (VAPA)

    Information sessions are provided for:

    • Prospective VAPA participants (VAPA information session - 1 hour, online)
    • Candidates undertaking VAPA (VAPA Portfolio Preparation Program)

    VAPA Information session (online)

    Format: one-hour, online session 

    Provides information about the Victorian Aspiring Principal Assessment (VAPA) and how it assesses readiness for the principal role. 

    Get a clear understanding of:

    • how the VAPA supports your professional development through formative and actionable feedback designed to enhance your professional capability.
    • the implementation of the VAPA as a requirement for first-time and past principals.   

    There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session.

    Audience

    Designed for leaders across the educational system who are aspiring for a principalship position in a Victorian government school. Participants may or may not be registered for the VAPA before attending this session.


    VAPA Portfolio Preparation Program 

    Participants gain a deep understanding of the portfolio, a primary method of assessment within the VAPA. 

    The development of the VAPA portfolio provides you with the opportunity to reflect on your leadership practice and document your experience aligned to the 5 professional practice areas of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership Principal Standard

    As a participant in this program, you will get:

    • insights from VAPA experts to gain a deeper understanding of the portfolio's structure and components
    • guidance on following the 'Rules of Evidence'
    • the chance to start drafting and reviewing your Leadership Initiative Files, which form the basis of your portfolio
    • opportunity to collaborate with your peers and facilitators across the day.

    Ample time will be provided for questions and clarification during the program. You will receive all the necessary information to confidently advance the development of your VAPA Portfolio.

    Audience

    To be eligible for this Portfolio Preparation Program you must be a VAPA participants who:

    • has registered and submitted their application for the assessment via the VAPA portal prior to attending the Portfolio Preparation program
    • is preparing or ready to complete their portfolio.

    This program is available to eligible participants in the VAPA from all school sectors.

    Structure of program

    • One day, face-to-face workshop
    • Locations: Academy regional and metropolitan sites across Victoria
    • Hybrid attendance online for those who are not located near to the delivery site.

    Participants are strongly encouraged to attend in person if possible.
