School Procurement provides an overview of procurement policies, process and risk within the school environment. Explore the Department's principles and methodologies that underpin procurement in Victorian government schools. You'll leave with a better understanding of how to successfully manage your school’s purchasing activities.

What you'll learn

  • Master procurement principles. Understand the Department’s core policies and procedures to ensure all school purchasing is transparent, compliant, and risk is managed.    
  • Navigate the procurement lifecycle. Apply a clear end-to-end process to identify needs, analyse the market, and select the right suppliers for your school’s specific objectives.    
  • Optimise school resources. Learn more about department panels and how to manage contracts effectively and drive better value for your school community.

This program is facilitated by the Department of Education's Schools Procurement Team who own the school procurement policy, procedure and templates.

Structure

Delivery

Over a 2-hour workshop you will:

  • unpack Department procurement tools and resources
  • explore the end-to-end procurement process.

You will learn about:

  • procurement policies, procedures and principles
  • the end-to-end procurement process, including:
    • how to identify your school's purchasing needs
    • undertaking a market analysis 
    • market engagement methodologies
    • supplier selection
    • the Purchase to Pay process
    • contract and performance management
  • Department procurement tools and resources.
