Start your journey to long term assessment transformation and build agency in learning

This course will explore an innovative approach to assessment being adopted in many schools around Australia. You will leave empowered to rethink teaching and assessment, to support deeper learning and personal growth by students. 

The course will elevate your assessment practices beyond standard procedures, to improve success in literacy and/or numeracy through assessing and developing learner agency. You will be provided with cutting-edge assessment thinking and tools that will help you lead a transformation of assessment in your school.  

The course will support you to unlock your students’ full potential by empowering them through your assessment practices.

Audience  

Designed for Victorian government school: 

  • teachers 
  • teacher leaders
  • middle leaders 
  • principals 
  • school teams
  • regional staff. 

Schools and educators are highly encouraged to consider registering more than one participant for the course, to maximise the impact and collaborative learning experience.

Facilitators

Designed and delivered by the University of Melbourne. 

Throughout the course you will also engage with education thought leaders including:

Over 3 months, you are expected to engage in and contribute to: 

  • face-to-face workshop (4 days) 
  • online team meetings (4 hours)  
  • self-directed learning  
  • an applied learning project. 

You will develop knowledge and capabilities to: 

  • understand the relationship between learner agency and improved literacy and numeracy outcomes 
  • use transformative assessment practices which integrate learner agency with literacy and numeracy 
  • evaluate your school’s capacity to transform assessment practices.
